My name is Stacey Ferguson and I am representing the city of Elk Grove as Mrs. Elk Grove in the Mrs. California United States Pageant. I am supported by my two favorite men; my husband, Craig, and my son, Zachary. Without their love and support I would not have made it this far! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you all the way to God's office and back!!!

My platform, Childhood and Adult Obesity with an emphasis on exercise and nutrition, is a true concern and alarming role that is affecting our country. My goal is to make our youth and fellow adults more aware of nutritious food choices and the value of exercise. I have recently participated in a 1/2 marathon and am a current lifetime and active member of Weight Watcher's. I am actively giving workshops and speaking at various schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District to promote good nutrition and exercise. I am also volunteering at my local school teaching P.E., implementing the SPARK program. It gives me great pleasure to be teaching such a sound and reputable program that promotes physical activity for young students that is fun and effective.

Kinders at Adreani Elementary School

March 16, I had the opportunity to speak to the kindergarten class at Adreani Elementary School. I was able to share the Champions for Changes, Harvest of the Month program. Many of our local schools in the Elk Grove District are participating in this nutritional based program. Harvest of the Month is taught at all different grade levels (K-12th). Each month a new fruit or vegetable is introduced. Through this program students have the opportunity to taste various fruits or vegetables they may have never tasted before! This month students were learning about the vegetable, carrots, and about the different things you can make with them, their nutritional value and the benefits they do for our bodies. During my visit, I was able to share information about the USDA food pyramid, what makes a balanced meal, and the importance of daily exercise. Each student left with a bag of carrots and were crowned queens and kings for the day! Thank you to Mrs. Mack and Mrs. Theo for allowing me this wonderful opportunity to share such an important message.

Thank you also to Leanne Teuber, the Principal at Arnold Adreani Elementary School.
